Emotionally Focused Therapy: The New Science of Love
Knowing the new Science of Love will help you be successful treating couples and relationships. It will even help you improve your own compassion for others and strengthen relationships in your own life.
Imagine improving your therapy skill, having more success in treating couples, earning CEU’s AND getting happier in your own life all at the same time.
We know from recent research (Levenson and Sandberg, 2010) attending an EFT Externship can do just that.
You’ll Learn About The Neural Duet
This is an official Externship, endorsed by ICEEFT and brought to you by TRI EFT Alliant and Alliant International University. Attending this externship is the first step to being listed at the EFT Find A Therapist website, where couples are going to find trained couple therapists. Attending this externship is also a step towards becoming a certified EFT therapist. For further details about the certification process please refer to Susan Johnson’s International Centre for Excellence in EFT (ICEEFT).
In this Externship, you will learn to:
see marital distress from an attachment perspective
help partners reprocess the emotional responses that maintain marital distress
shape key new interaction and bonding events and,
overcome therapeutic impasses.
You will also see EFT in action during live consultation sessions with real couples. The consultations sessions are always a big highlight.

EFT is a proven-effective model, with improvement rates in the 90th percentile, and amazing recovery rates at 70-73%. This model utilizes the theory of adult love in a systematic map to heal distressed couple relationships which has a positive effect on the rest of the family – and ultimately – society.
EFT is a short-term approach developed by Susan M. Johnson, founder of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), and is based on John Bowlby’s Attachment Theory. It reflects the most recent research on the nature of relationship distress, adult love, and emotion. Emotionally Focused Therapy has revolutionized couple therapy. It is one of the most empirically supported models of couple therapy, is being taught all over the world and is a must-know model if you are working with couples.
